Elementary social studies, history and geography: a guide for parents

Revisions to the social studies, Grades 1 to 3 curriculum were revised in collaboration with First Nations, Métis and Inuit partners, Elders, Knowledge Holders and education stakeholders. This revision builds on Ontario’s first phase of revisions, issued in 2018, to this curriculum in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. 

The two new expectations in Grade 6 social studies were developed in collaboration with the Jewish community, education organizations and educator stakeholders.

In 2018, the curriculum in social studies for Grades 4 to 6, and history for Grades 7, 8 and 10, was revised to include Indigenous-focused learning. These revisions were made in collaboration with Indigenous and education partners.
